The Babe Becomes a King

This ball, the 33rd home run for Babe Ruth in 1921, was hit on July 12. With this home run, his 136, Ruth tied the career home run record originally set by Roger Connor, who played baseball in the late 1800s.

Ruth would go on to shatter the all-time record, hitting 714 home runs. His record would later be broken by the great Henry "Hank" Aaron, who ended his career with 755 home runs.
