Jack Hamilton's Jersey This jersey
was worn by Angels pitcher Jack Hamilton when
he unintentionally hit Red Sox slugging star,
Tony Conigliaro, in the eye on August 18, 1967.
The pitch nearly killed Conigliaro as Hamilton
was a very hard thrower. Conigliaro, or "Tony
C.", as he was affectionally known by his
adoring Boston fans, battled back to have one
or two more good seasons. But, after he was hit
by Hamilton, he was never the same. A possibly
great career was cut short. Tony retired in 1975.
In 1990, he died of a heart attack at the age
of 45.
